It’s Time to Let Your Confidence Shine!
For teens, their smile is an important part of who they are and how they are viewed. When its time for braces, you may have questions like: Does my kid NEED to have braces? Should I even worry about an overbite? How long will it take to fix? Can my daughter get Invisalign? What happens if we don’t get braces?
There are several important reasons why these teenage years are the ideal time for orthodontic treatment. Generally by the age of 11-13 the baby teeth have all been lost, and the permanent ones have come in. This is a perfect time to begin correcting the concerns that lead to a bad bite and crooked teeth. These bite concerns typically don’t get better with age, and are easier to treat while the body is growing.
Every teen, however, is different and when yours is ready for braces we will evaluate and determine the type of braces that will give your child the best result for them.
Gone are the days of large, clunky metal braces. Modern metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive than ever before. Traditional braces are considered one of the best options for your smile because they are extremely durable, and effective for treating a wide variety of orthodontic concerns.
Clear braces work just like traditional braces but are translucent, ceramic braces that are preferred by many of our patients who seek a more cosmetic option. If you want all the benefits of having a beautiful smile, but want a less noticeable alternative, clear braces may be the best option for you.
Invisalign is ideal for adults or teens that would prefer to not wear braces. Invisalign uses custom clear, removable aligner trays that gradually and gently straighten teeth over time. If you have a social occasion or sports activity that you would rather not wear your aligners, you can simply remove them. Removing trays also allows the benefit of easily eating the foods that you love and allows for normal brushing and flossing.
